Content moderators are prone to secondary traumatic stress (also called vicarious trauma or cybertrauma), brought on by their exposure to disturbing images and information. Even the most experienced, most resilient moderators often find that they cannot be prepared enough for the images they see.
Cybertrauma is any trauma that is a result of interaction with any internet-ready device that results in impact now or in the future.
